Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur has demanded a fair and high-level investigation into the death of Pallavi, a young woman from Kangra district, terming the incident deeply tragic and painful. He alleged repeated lapses on the part of the police and administration in the case, which, he said, raise serious questions about the functioning of the present State Government.

In a statement issued from Shimla, Jairam Thakur said that the matter is directly linked to justice for a daughter and therefore warrants the Chief Minister’s immediate intervention. He stressed that only an impartial and high-level probe can bring all facts to light and ensure justice for Pallavi. He expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family and extended his sympathies to them in this hour of grief.

The Leader of the Opposition further alleged that Himachal Pradesh’s healthcare system is in a critical condition. Referring to observations made by the High Court, he said that relying on outsourced arrangements and temporary measures has put citizens’ health rights at risk. He accused the State Government of making tall claims about healthcare improvements, while ground realities reflect a shortage of doctors and essential services.

Citing recent incidents, Jairam Thakur said that the tragic death of a woman in Kuhl Panchayat of Rampur highlighted the fragility of the healthcare system, as doctors were reportedly unavailable at nearby primary health centres when treatment was needed. He termed such incidents shameful and alleged that the government’s repeated failures are costing people their lives.

He said that issues concerning human lives cannot be taken lightly and accused the State Government of continuously ignoring the seriousness of the healthcare crisis, forcing the people of Himachal Pradesh to bear the consequences of administrative inefficiency.

On a national note, Jairam Thakur welcomed India’s emergence as the world’s fourth-largest economy, overtaking Japan. He attributed this achievement to the visionary and reform-oriented policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central Government. He said initiatives such as Make in India, Digital India, Startup India, Atmanirbhar Bharat and the implementation of GST have strengthened the Indian economy and enhanced global investor confidence.

He added that strong domestic demand, a young workforce, technological innovation and record investment in infrastructure have propelled India’s growth. Emphasizing the Prime Minister’s vision, he said that achieving a five-trillion-dollar economy and becoming one of the top three global economies remains the national goal, which the country will accomplish under Narendra Modi’s leadership. He congratulated the people of India on this milestone and expressed gratitude to the Central leadership.
