Parenting tips from Renowned Guinness World Record Holder: Muhammad Faisal

Keekli Reporter, 8th October, 2013, Shimla

Gone are the days when parenting simply meant raising kids, in today’s world we use techniques and methods that are specifically designed for children and suddenly we are termed as good or skilled parents. Today’s session was especially organized by the Principal, Sunita John, Auckland House School, Shimla. It was an eye opener about improving parenting skills. Few amazing tips were demonstrated by Muhammad Faisal (the renowned Guinness World Record holder, for the strongest memory) in Vedic Maths and Brain Power.

Faisal simply sends across a clear message that, “No advise is the best advise”, especially when dealing with kids. As parents we play a very important part in our child’s growth and upbringing, but an “artificial parent” (the second closest authoritative link to your child — be it a friend, relative or grandparents) plays even a bigger role in their lives.

Faisal’s young/tender age and mild demeanor may surprise us all but definitely his knowledge and experience is a source of inspiration. A simple memory test of writing arbitrary equations, names and more than 20 random numbers and then recalling them in both straight and reverse order was enough to impress the audience and gain their attention (see glimpse in the video below).

The entire gathering of parents was eager and attentive to hear and learn what Faisal had to say. Few parents were even busy joting notes and pointers as to what changes they could adopt to improve their parenting skills for bringing about a change in the children. For a day the parents were the students!!!

As once Oscar Wilde said, “The best way to make children good is to make them happy,” holds quite true as that is exactly what Faisal too emphasized. Good parenting skills include certain techniques and methods through which we can help our children to improve their learning and memory power. By activating the subconscious mind children can learn things at a much faster and better rate. Faisal said, “When positive affirmations are delivered to kids during his/her sleep through music and talks, children are likely to gain positively and a remarkable difference can be seen within a month or so. Give children the freedom to learn and always try to make them self-dependent from a very young age”. He further added that the worst any parent could do was to compare his/her child with others or between siblings as that had the most detrimental effect on the development of the child. He also emphasized that before giving any form of punishment to children, parents should cool their own temper first and then decide as any unwarranted action could leave a long lasting impression on the child. And finally, the best motto to be followed is “criticize personally, appreciate publically”.

Faisal’s expertise in High Speed Vedic Mathematics was acknowledged and appreciated by the parents, who quickly understood the benefits of adopting this new method after following few examples. The session ended with parents trying to get a quick moment with Faisal enquiring as to how to control their children or improve certain habits!!!
