The probationers of the Indian Defence Estates Service (IDES), Military Engineer Services (MES), and Central Water Engineering Service (CWES) called on the President of India, . Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.
In her address to the IDES officers, the President emphasized the importance of leveraging digital technologies in modern governance. She highlighted the use of AI, drones, satellite imagery, and blockchain as essential tools for managing defence land records and infrastructure. She encouraged them to integrate green infrastructure practices, renewable energy, water conservation, and waste reduction in their projects, especially in cantonment areas.
Speaking to MES officers, the President lauded their role in nation-building through military infrastructure, urging them to adopt eco-friendly construction practices and support the national mission of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ by promoting indigenous technologies and materials under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Addressing the CWES probationers, the President underscored the critical role of sustainable water resource management in ensuring India’s water security amidst climate change. She stressed the need for clean water supply, conservation, and innovative engineering solutions to boost public health, agriculture, and national resilience against water-related challenges.
The interaction marked the President’s ongoing efforts to inspire the next generation of civil and military infrastructure leaders to align with the principles of sustainability, technology, and self-reliance.
