The cherubs of Euro Kids Pre School, New Shimla, celebrated their annual function in Gaiety Theatre, Shimla with great brilliance, radiance and splendour as the theme chosen for this year was “India: The Land of Festivals”. The function began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, MLA Anirudh Singh, from the Kusumpti constituency and a welcome song by Euro junior girls — Arshia, Akshita, Mahtab, Aurel, Savani, Kanika, Ahana, Amani and Medhavini, to name a few — who performed the Guru Vandana.
The dance was followed by an audio visual presentation on the annual activities and events held in the school. The celebration of the festivals began with Holi as the students of nursery gave an enchanting performance on the song Aao re aao khele holi biraj mein, khele holi nandlal. Then came the season of harvesting — Baisakhi — and the stage was set on fire by the vibrant beats of Punjabi Bhangra as Aishwarya, Digisha, Aaral, Sanvi, Chinmay, Adamya, Pranav, Pratik, Sanvi, Aastha, Aarav and so on showed their moves. The festival of Goddess Durga, Navratras was celebrated by performing Dandiya and Garbha dressed in swirling ghagharas and were seen whirling in their skirts and shararas. Little Euro angels — Adiraj, Aadrit, Aaliya, Rashika, Ishaan, Elena, Sanvi and Sahira — dressed in traditional Muslim attires performed a dance to celebrate Eid and mesmerized the audience with their beautiful performances. The tiny tots dispelled the darkness by bringing in the light of love through the celebration of Deepawali.
It was not all song and dance but Euro juniors displayed the basic techniques of taekwondo after which the entertainment programme concluded with a scintillating performance by nursery kids celebrating Christmas with their delightful and enthralling chants of Jingle bells Jingle bells. The kids took to the stage with utmost ease and comfort leaving everyone spell bound. Their tentative steps and exceptional confidence left everyone awestruck and flabbergasted.
An innovative concept of Euro Kids, the “Creative Activity Day” especially organized for parents on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day respectively saw the parents too up on the stage collecting their prizes. The winners for these competitions held during school calendar were 1st – Anu Verma, 2nd – Chanchal Kukreja and 3rd – Manisha Thakur while for Father’s Day they were 1st – Pushkar Verma, 2nd – Arpan Sood and 3rd – Nitin Puri.
Anirudh Singh appreciated the school’s efforts in co-coordinating such programmes and also encouraged the students to make the best use of the opportunities being provided to them. He addressed the parents, teachers and the principal, Mrs Ravine Singh, by saying that the evening made him nostalgic and left him speechless. The kids reminded him of his childhood. He appreciated the talent among the little ones and wished them best of luck for their future.
The parents were glad to see their children perform so well. Aditya Negi, mother of Abhimanyu Negi who performed in gharbha said that the annual concert is a platform for the young children to showcase their talent. Another parent, Alka Negi, mother of Vihan praised the efforts of the teachers and principal of the school for recognizing the hidden talent in the children and giving them confidence to perform on stage.
