As the year drew to a close it was time for the Annual Fete in Chapslee School, Lakkar Bazar, Shimla. Students and parents came to enjoy themselves at the various food and games stalls, each set up and managed by a particular class with the help of their teachers. The fete was inaugurated by the Director and Principal, Chapslee School Bharari, Pronati Singh and Principal Chapslee School Lakkar Bazar, Shikha Dogra.
Preparations had begun in right earnest weeks before. The students had set up colourful stalls with different kinds of fun games such as the Lucky Dip, Ring the duck, Tin Stall, Quoits, Place the Bindi, Big Mouth, Chocolate Wheel, Skittles, Coin Game, Shot the Balloon and Basketball. Other attractions included Tambola which seemed to be the most popular among ladies and kids. Special computer games such as the Grand Theft Auto and Road Rash were very popular among children.
No outing is complete without food, so there were food stalls to cater to all kinds of palates. The best part about the food was that it was prepared by the teachers themselves. The staff came early morning in order to prepare the food for the Fete. There were stalls put up for Rasna, Noodles, Sandwiches, Bhelpuri, Channa Bhatura, Custard, Sambhar Vada, Curry Chawal, Tikki, Gulab Jamun, Dhokla, Golgappa, Papri, Tea and Samosas. Â It was the perfect setting for a family picnic.
The kids along with their parents were having a ball at the various stalls, be it at shoot the balloon or bowling all the stumps with one ball. There was a grand bumper draw which was watched by many eager eyes, who were all hoping to be among the lucky few to win a prize. Then of course the biggest attraction for the young brigade was the Jam Session.
Principal Dogra, said, “Such celebrations play a very important part in giving a break from studies to the kids and building the rapport between the students and the staff. We have ensured that the price tags for the games and food stalls are kept minimal to make everything affordable.”
The event was as always, a resounding success and everyone had a wonderful time. Children of all ages had something to amuse them and the parents got an opportunity to get involved with their children in fun activities and interact with the teachers.
