No changes or amendments in the recruitment and promotion rules of Patwaris and Kanungos

Revenue, Horticulture, and Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi today held meeting with the delegation of Joint Village Revenue Officers (Patwari and Kanungo) Association here today to discuss the issues related to their conversion into State cadre. The Minister assured the association that this conversion would not affect the seniority, promotion and other benefits of the Patwaris and Kanungos.

He clarified that this decision has been taken to maintain the uniformity without making any changes or amendments in the recruitment and promotion rules. Patwaris and Kanungos would still have opportunities for promotion to Naib Tehsildar and Tehsildar in the future. This decision allows Patwaris and Kanungo posted in other districts to serve in their home districts which would enhance their work-life balance, said the Minister.

Jagat Singh Negi said that the decision to convert the district cadre of Patwaris and Kanungo into the state cadre was made in the public interest. The government received representations from the people of the state and the decision was focused on the welfare of the people at large.

Sh. Negi emphasized that most government services now fall under the state cadre, and the recent strike by Kanungo and Patwaris have led to inconvenience to the public thereby causing delay of many revenue-related matters. The government was committed to resolving issues promptly to prevent further inconvenience to the people. Together with this, the government is also dedicated to the rights and development of state employees, as demonstrated by the reinstatement of the old pension scheme, providing a dignified retired life and social security to the employees.

He assured the delegation that their genuine demands including their salary related issues, as placed before him would be considered on a priority.

Director Land Records and Consolidation of Holding C.P Verma, Additional Secretary Revenue Balwan Chand were also present on the meeting.
