Sensitization workshop on BIS organised at Parwanoo

The Parwanoo branch office of the Bureau of Indian Standards, conducted a sensitization workshop for the officials of the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj department today.

Head of the Parwanoo branch Subash Chander Naik apprised the participants about the working of BIS. He said that BIS was the most important part of the quality ecosystem of the country and was working to promote quality, safety and reliability of products. BIS certification was meant to provide third party guarantee of quality, safety and reliability of products to consumers.

Joint Director Shiv Prakash gave a detailed presentation on the specific standards of the department, standard formulation, product certification, hallmarking and compulsory registration scheme. He also explained the penal provisions under BIS Act 2016 for misuse of BIS standard mark.

Director RD & PR Raghav Sharma, Additional Director of Panchayati Raj Department Niraj Chandna, Deputy CEO (RD) Kalyani Gupta were also present in the workshop.
