With a view to bring attitudinal change and to develop a positive mind set in the children, the Shimla District Administration has decided to set up a Child Counselling Centre in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office premises. Deputy Commissioner Rohan Chand Thakur disclosed that the counselling of the children would be done in the Centre every week on Tuesday and Friday from 2 to 5 pm. Every child between the age group of 12 to 18 years would be eligible for counselling in this Centre.
He said that generally student’s passes through a phase of mental stress during examination period in the month of March. He said sometimes children also had to undergo through other problems which they usually did not share with others which had a direct impact on their personality development. In order to help them in utilising their entire potential in preparation for exams and coming out of the situations like mental stress, tension and anxiety, the decision was taken to set up this counselling centre.
Thakur said this centre would be made functional soon after creation of required infrastructure. The centre would be run with the cooperation of department of Woman and Child Development and Child Protection Units besides taking help of other experts.
