Shimla Flying Festival 2024: Tourism and Adventure in Himachal Pradesh

The much-anticipated Second Edition of the Shimla Flying Festival and Hospitality Expo 2024 is set to be inaugurated by the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, at 11:00 AM in The Glide In Junga on 16th October 2024. This grand event is supported by the Tourism Department, Government of Himachal Pradesh, the District Administration Shimla, and the Ministry of MSME and Department of Industries, H.P.

While giving this information here today, Organizer Arun Rawat said that the primary objective of the event is to bring together all key stakeholders from the tourism and hospitality industries to collectively promote tourism in Shimla and its surrounding areas.

A key highlight of the festival is the Spot Landing Paragliding Championship, featuring over 50 pilots from both India and abroad. These skilled pilots will compete in solo and team categories, with cash prizes worth Rs. 5 lakh to be awarded to the winners. The first prize in the solo category will be an impressive amount of Rs. 2.25 lakh.

Additionally, the festival will showcase an Exhibition featuring over 40 participants, primarily catering to the tourism and hospitality sectors. Notably, around 20 of these exhibitors are startups, supported by the Ministry of MSME and the Department of Industries, Government of H.P., underscoring the state’s commitment to fostering a startup ecosystem followed by a workshop on Startups.

On 18th October 2024, HPKVN (Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam) will organize a conference and workshops on crafting competency standards for homestay owners and adventure/pilgrimage tour guides, beginning at 11:00 AM.

Adding to the excitement, the renowned wrestling star, The Great Khali, will grace the event on 18th October, inspiring the youth of the state to consider adventure sports as an alternative career. In the afternoon, Anirudh Singh, Hon’ble Minister for Rural Development, will attend the event to boost the morale of the participants.

The Grand Closing Ceremony on 19th October will be graced by Naresh Chauhan, Principal Media Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of H.P., and Suresh Kumar, Hon’ble MLA from Bhoranj. The day will culminate with the much-awaited Battle of Bands, where young talents will showcase their musical skills, adding a festive vibe to the evening. This festival promises to be a grand celebration, promoting tourism, trade, and the traditions of Himachal Pradesh.
