Shopping Complex, Hotel, Flats and More in New Shimla Development

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today chaired a high-level meeting with senior officials at the Secretariat to review the proposed development of a new grand complex at Sabzi Mandi area of Shimla. The upcoming complex will house the office of the Shimla Municipal Corporation along with a shopping complex, hotel, residential flats, shops, parking facilities and various other amenities. The multi-purpose project is aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure and giving a fresh boost to tourism in the city.

The complex will be constructed in two phases across approximately 14 bighas of land. The first phase will involve the development of around 4 lakh square feet, while the second phase will cover approximately 1.40 lakh square feet. The State Government will provide about Rs. 200 crore for the construction work of the first phase.

The Chief Minister directed officers to initiate the construction work for the first phase at the earliest. He further stated that the employees’ colony in the area will also be redeveloped as part of the project. Emphasizing the aesthetic and functional value of the complex, he said the initiative will significantly enhance the urban landscape of Shimla.

The Chief Minister also instructed the Shimla Municipal Corporation to engage in dialogue with local residents to ensure the smooth execution of the project. Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation Surender Chauhan expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for approving this major initiative for Shimla City. He said that the new complex will emerge as a landmark in Shimla, addressing long-standing local challenges and contributing significantly to the tourism potential of the hill capital.

Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh, MLAs Mohan Lal Brakta, Harish Janartha, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Additional Chief Secretary Kamlesh Kumar Pant, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, Secretary Rajesh Sharma, councilors of Municipal Corporation Shimla along with other senior officers were present on the occasion.
