As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility, SJVN, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise, has provided two Electric Solid Waste Management Vehicles to the Municipal Corporation, Shimla under the ongoing Swachhta Hi Sewa Pakhwada 2025.

The eco-friendly EVs were flagged off from Mall Road, Shimla in the gracious presence of Hon’ble MLA, Shimla (Urban), Harish Janartha and Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), SJVN. Also present on the occasion were Bhupender Attri, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Shimla, along with senior officials from SJVN and the MC Shimla.

Speaking at the event, Ajay Kumar Sharma stated that SJVN has extended financial assistance of ₹25.44 lakh for the procurement of the two electric vehicles. “These zero-emission vehicles will enhance Shimla’s waste collection system and contribute to cleaner air and a healthier environment,” he added.

This initiative falls under the theme ‘Clean Green Festivities – Eco-friendly and Zero-Waste Celebrations’, one of the five key pillars of ‘Swachhotsav’, the overarching concept of this year’s Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign. Through this support, SJVN reiterates its dedication to promoting sustainable waste management solutions and supporting the broader goals of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The 9th edition of Swachhta Hi Sewa Pakhwada, which began on 17th September 2025, will conclude on 2nd October 2025, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti. The 15-day campaign aims to galvanize community participation across the country in promoting cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
