SJVN Seminar on Indian Power Market Highlights Sustainable Energy Goals

SJVN organized a seminar on ‘Indian Power Market – A Way Forward’ today at the SCOPE Convention Centre in New Delhi. Arun Goyal, Former Member of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Akhileshwar Singh, Director (Finance), SJVN and Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel) SJVN were also present.

Arun Goyal, Former Member CERC expressed his optimism for the future of the Indian power market and praised the role of organizations like SJVN in promoting dialogue and collaboration within the sector. India’s power market is entering a phase of immense potential and growth. Through partnerships, innovative solutions, and a commitment to sustainability, we can build a resilient and competitive market that meets the energy demands of our growing economy, he said.

Speaking on the occasion Akhileshwar Singh, Director (Finance) SJVN said that SJVN, as one of India’s leading power sector enterprises, has been actively aligning its operations with the country’s vision of efficient, economical, and sustainable energy. In January 2022, SJVN was awarded the Category-I Trading License, allowing it to initiate power trading operations. Since then, the company has made strides in establishing itself as a key player in power trading, focusing on short-term, medium-term, and long-term energy contracts to meet diverse client needs across India.

Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel) SJVN, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to supporting India’s energy transition and meeting its sustainability goals. He emphasized that the company’s trading operations align with its mission to provide sustainable, reliable, and affordable power to millions across India, furthering its commitment to responsible energy development.

The seminar provided a valuable platform for knowledge-sharing on the changing dynamics of the Indian power market, touching upon innovations, regulatory frameworks, and pathways to support India’s energy goals. During the seminar, a series of presentations and talks were delivered by industry experts for advancing the Indian power market. Experts highlighted recent updates in power market regulations, examining policies aimed at creating a more transparent and competitive market. Speakers explored the GNA framework’s significance in strengthening transmission infrastructure and ensuring equitable access to power transmission networks. The seminar concluded with a panel discussion that brought together diverse perspectives on the future trajectory of India’s power market.
