The Himachal Pradesh Government is committed to empowering youth through skill development and employment-oriented training, said Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, while chairing a review meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Corporation (HPSDC).
He emphasized that equipping the youth with industry-relevant skills remains a top priority of the State Government, which is taking innovative steps to align skill development initiatives with market demand. The goal, he said, is to promote self-reliance and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for young people across the state.
The Minister directed officials to formulate a detailed action plan for the effective implementation of training programmes. These programmes, he said, must be forward-looking and capable of preparing youth for the dynamic and competitive global job market.
Highlighting recent progress, Dharmani informed that during the financial year 2024–25, a total of 4,100 trainees have already been awarded certificates in key trades such as automotive, construction, electronics, and apparel. Additionally, over 650 youth have been certified in agriculture, handicrafts, and healthcare sectors, opening doors for self-employment and local entrepreneurship.
The Minister said that HPSDC is adopting modern training models, strengthening its role as a catalyst for skill-based learning and economic growth. A presentation on skill development strategy and programme implementation was also delivered by Knowledge Corporation Limited during the meeting.
Secretary (Technical Education) Sandeep Kadam, along with other senior officials of the Corporation, attended the review.
