The Department of School Education, Government of Himachal Pradesh, has issued clear directives regarding the closure of schools under adverse weather conditions. As per the notification issued by Deputy Secretary (Education) Anil Kumar, while schools may be closed for students due to safety concerns under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, teaching and non-teaching staff are required to attend their respective institutions during such closures.
The circular, addressed to all Deputy Commissioners and the Director of School Education, outlines a list of assignments and duties that school staff must undertake on these days, including:

Completing any pending work related to the Mid-Day Meal scheme.

Preparation of lesson plans for upcoming classes.

Preparing for both formative and summative assessments.

Finalizing any School Management Committee (SMC) related tasks.

Completing assignments from Samagra Shiksha and DIET.

Conducting online classes from the school, if feasible.

Managing school administration and documentation.

Making necessary entries on the PMIS (Personnel Management Information System) portal.

Updating UDISE+ (Unified District Information System for Education) data.

Finalizing report cards and academic records.
The directive aims to utilize school closure days productively for administrative and academic preparation while ensuring institutional readiness.
All Deputy Directors of Higher and Elementary Education have also been asked to disseminate and enforce these instructions promptly.
