The State Oversight Committee convened a meeting on Monday under the chairmanship of Rajeev Kumar, Project Director of the Himachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Committee, to review ongoing health interventions in prisons, correctional homes, and other closed settings for the April–June 2025–26 period.
Rajeev Kumar highlighted the state government’s directive to ensure comprehensive screening of all inmates for HIV, Syphilis, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, and other infections. This effort aligns with the national 95-95-95 targets set by NACO and aims to enhance the overall health and well-being of prisoners.
He stressed the need for stronger coordination between prison authorities and healthcare providers to ensure timely treatment and improved medical infrastructure within correctional facilities.
The meeting saw participation from key stakeholders, including representatives from the Departments of Prisons and Correctional Homes, Police, Women and Child Development, National Health Mission (TB), State Hepatitis Control Program, the State AIDS Control Department, the Disha Team, and partner organization HLFPPT.
