Shimla Amateur Garden and Environment Society (SAGES) organized the 17th Flower Show at the Padam Dev Complex, The Ridge, Shimla in which 13 schools participated in the flower arrangement competition. Despite the fact that the weather played a chaotic role, it could not dampen the spirit and enthusiasm of the participants as the event was then moved to the Gaiety Theatre Hall. President Sages M R Sharma informed that the theme of the event was “Colours of Summer in Shimla” and emphasis was on using different coloured flowers for making the arrangements. He said, “All schools were given a set of rules and regulations to follow and each group had three students who were given 45 minutes each to complete their creations. The winner of today’s event will inaugurate the flower and plant exhibition tomorrow.”
The judges of the event were Dr Bhalla and Dr Bharti from Nauni University and NK Gupta, a retired official from Dept of Horticulture Shimla”. Also present among others were Vice President Sages Dr BK Karkara, Secretary D Bhasin and Treasurer R L Jain who ensured that event progressed smoothly. President Sharma also informed that the idea behind the theme was to also highlight the temperate climate of Shimla, different variety and colours of flowers available in the City, while adding an attraction for tourist visiting Shimla.

Auckland House School – Diksha Verma, Glory Kaushik, Raktanjali Sharma.
Convent of Jesus and Mary – Sejal Dhanta, Shubhangi Bhardwaj, Eva Gautam accompanied with their teacher Prabjot Kaur.
BSN Chakkar – Sonali, Pallavi, Himanshu accompanied with their teachers Kalpana, Nishtan and Rinchan.
DAV Tutu – Sukanya Thakur, Charu Avasty, Vipasha Gupta accompanied with their teacher Shekhar Chauhan.
DAV, New Shimla – Kriti, Rizam, Devyani accompanied with their teacher Seema.
Monal Public School – Harsha Sharma, Preetika Chauhan, Aditi Chandel.

Govt Sr Sec School, Dhalli – Nisha, Pushpa, Reena accompanied with their teachers Prem Lata and Vandana.
The teachers and participants together expressed displeasure and annoyance at the beginning of the event as heavy rain and winds had hindered their progress when they started with their creations at the Complex. With talks of near cancellation, the event was moved to the Gaiety Hall. Finally the students made quite a few impressive arrangements and were satisfied with their designs and conceptions.
