For any individual, place of teacher is always special and his/her influence echoes throughout one’s life. Keekli find out what the current generation school children understand by the term Teachers’ Day and their plans for the day.
Yamini Kashyap (Class IX, Auckland House School)
We celebrate Teachers’ Day to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the second President of India. For me it is a day to show my gratitude and respect for the teachers. I will make some greeting cards myself if possible or otherwise will buy it from the market and gift it to my teacher. We will decorate the class and plan a surprise party for our teacher. For me it is all about having a blast where we all get to know our teachers in a complete new light.

Opportunity to Express Respect
Gaurav Thakur (Class X, Chapslee School)
For me this day signifies an opportunity to express how much respect and love I have for my teachers. No doubt in school we celebrate this day with full zeal, we have cultural activities, singing and dancing rules the day but I never forget to thank my first teacher that is my mother who taught me everything so that I was accepted in school. In school we get cakes and decorate our classroom. Sometimes we even get gifts for teachers which they hardly accept but we always compel them to accept it.

Teachers’ Day is a very special day for us as we all get a chance to enjoy in school with our teachers. Every year we all – that is students collect money and from that purchase decorations, snacks and other such stuff and share it together. This year too we plan to do the same and have a great time together as on this day teachers do not punish us for our mischiefs. We all sing and dance in school; the only day in a year when studies take a back seat in school.

The one thing that I love about this day is the fact that no matter how quiet a student is in class at least on this day he opens up with the teacher and is able to express himself. We all collectively decorate the class and prepare a cultural program to entertain our teachers. On this day the whole class works as one, setting aside all issue that exists among us. In my opinion it is the best gift that students can give to their teachers on any given day.

Teachers’ Day is definitely a very special day for us all as on this day we can show our gratitude towards our teachers. The best part about this day is that whole school unites together and tries to do things that appeal to our teachers and makes them happy. Each class contributes their bit by performing cultural items, group songs and dances. The day is full of fun and we all get an opportunity to break the ice between teachers and students. Gifts too play a role but are not that important.

On this day we have cultural programmes and this year too we have planned the same. Unfortunately, I am not participating in the activities but still I am sure I will enjoy watching the prepared items by other students. We all have decided to buy cards for our teachers and may be even buy gifts. Personally I feel that it is all about sentiments rather than about gifts. My best gift for all my teachers I feel is my becoming successful in life and serving the society in the best possible way.

For me Teachers’ Day is an opportunity to express my gratitude for my teachers. It is because of them that I am shaping up as a good human being and if they had not been so supportive I would have not achieved anything in life. However, I feel that it is really sad that other days many students are found mocking their teachers which is totally wrong. I plan to gift cards to my teachers and plan a party along with my classmates for all the teachers.

I always wait for this day as it is a very special day in any student’s life. Gifts are not the focus point here which is often considered by few. It is a day to show gratitude towards all the people who have contributed in my life and guided me, may that be my teacher or mother. I plan to gift something that might please them all which I am sure will not have monetary value but will be expensive if measured on sentimental scale.
