A State Level Function dedicated to the 400th Prakash Purb of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji was organized at the historic Ridge Maidan in Shimla in collaboration with Gurdwara Sahib Shri Guru Singh Sabha Shimla and Himachal Pradesh Government on Sunday. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar was present at the function as the Chief Guest. On the occasion, the Governor bowed before the Guru Granth Sahib Ji and prayed for the happiness and prosperity of people of the State. He wished all the devotees of the Sikh community on the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
In his message, he said that Tegh Bahadur ji inspired to walk on the path of love, harmony and brotherhood for world peace and human happiness and spread the light of knowledge through his teachings. While trying to free the society from various evils, he taught goodness and values, he added. The Governor appreciated the service being done by the Sikh community.
The Governor said that the teachings, and messages of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji and the lessons he gave continue to inspire us even today. He sacrificed his life for the sake of religion and faith. He said that the Union and State Governments were doing good work for social harmony. Jaswinder Singh, President, Gurdwara Sahib Guru Singh Sabha welcomed and honored the Governor on the occasion. Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar, Akal Takht, Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj and a large number of Sikh Sangat were also present on the occasion.
