Government Bans Organisation of Official Mela

Test, Track and Treat Strategy must be implemented effectively. Presiding over the video conferencing meeting with the Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police and Chief Medical Officers from Shimla today to review the situation of Covid-19 pandemic in the State, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur expressed concern over the sudden spike in the number of Covid-19 cases in a few districts of the State and felt the need for taking effective steps to curb this virus, so that resurgence in the virus cases could be checked. He said that vaccination of the people must be increased as the Union Government has already sanctioned another 1.80 lakh dosages for the State, which would be delivered within two days. He directed that the effective use of face masks and hand sanitizers must be ensured. He said that proper protocol must also be followed for patients under home isolation.

Chief Minister said that special thrust must be laid on contact tracing and adopting proactive approach to detect cases of coronavirus. He said that shopkeepers and other business establishments must be persuaded to adopt strategy of ‘No Mask, No Service’. He said that all the official melas would not be organised to check spread of the virus but the ongoing melas would continue by adopting the SOPs. He said that only 50 per cent gatherings both indoor and out-door with a maximum number of 200 for indoor must be ensured in the social gatherings.

Jai Ram Thakur said that since all the field officers have now a good first-hand experience and knowledge regarding the steps to check this pandemic, thus they should ensure that social gathering without social distancing must be avoided. He said that Test, Track and Treat Strategy must be implemented effectively. He said that RTCPR Test must be increased and Containment Zone Approach must be implemented strictly.

Chief Minister said that special focus must be laid on vaccination of people of the area where there was a sharp spike in the number of cases. He said that steps must be taken to motivate the people to adopt the approach of ‘Dawai Bhi, Kadai Bhi’. He said that special thrust must be laid on IEC to motivate people to help the Government in checking the spread of this pandemic.

Chief Secretary Anil Khachi directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure proper sanitization of market places and religious and other public places. Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu said that stringent action would be taken against those found guilty of violation of various SOPs such as use of face masks etc. Deputy Commissioners gave first hand information regarding Covid-19 situation in their respective districts. Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Additional Chief Secretary R.D. Dhiman, Additional Chief Secretary J.C. Sharma, Secretary Health Amitabh Awasthi, Director Information and Public Relations Harbans Singh Brascon were also present in the meeting.
