Sarahan, Shimla: Rigzin Gyurmeth emerged as the sole finisher and champion of The Silk Route Ultra Trail 2024, demonstrating unparalleled resilience during the grueling 100 km race that traversed ancient and rugged terrains from Narkanda to Sarahan.
Organized by The Himalayan Expedition, THE Silk Route Ultra is renowned for testing endurance and determination. This year’s event attracted approximately 160 participants, including national and international athletes, as well as enthusiastic school children competing in various categories.
Gyurmeth’s remarkable feat in completing the 100 km ultra marathon in 19 hours 28 minutes exemplifies the spirit of the event, which challenges participants to push beyond their limits. Other winners in different categories included Milan Halder, Stanzin Wangchuk, and Ankur Kumar, showcasing exceptional performances in their respective races.

The fourth edition of THE Silk Route Ultra commenced with a ceremonial flag-off on April 12, followed by a rigorous race day on April 13. The event concluded with a grand prize distribution ceremony in Sarahan on April 14, honoring the achievements of all participants.
