The third day of Shimla Book Fair 2022 was full of literary discourses focusing on the popular folklore and regional literature of Himachal Pradesh. The 63 stalls across which thousands of books are displayed saw a steady number of visitors and buyers queuing up to buy books of their choice. With books available in all Indian languages and in English on a wide range of subjects and genres of their choice, people in Shimla are excited to browse through all. Organized by National Book Trust, India, the fair is on till 3 July 2022 at Gaiety Theatre and Padam Dev complex.

For the children visiting the fair, a drawing competition was organized today. More than 55 students from over 10 schools in Shimla participated in the competition. The theme for the competition was ‘Save the Environment’. All the participating children unleashed their creative sides and submitted a variety of artistic artworks. The participating students were also presented with books from NBT. As part of the literary events for the day, seminars on ‘Lok Sahitya: Pahaado ke sandarbh mein’ and ‘Lokgeet, Lokkatha, Lokvarta – Kitni sahaj kitni durlabh’ were organised. Dr. Devendra Gupta (from Shimla), Ms. Uma Thakur (from Shimla) and Dr. Surat Thakur (from Kullu) participated in these programs. Dr. Gautam Sharma ‘Vyathit’ and Dr. Pratyush Guleri were also present there. The day also saw many cultural performances showcasing the rich folk and traditional music and dances of Himachal Pradesh.
