The recently organized adventurous trip for the students of Doon Valley Public School, Nalagarh concluded on a high note with students and organizers both wanting to plan more such exciting and energizing trips again in the future. About 25 students of classes ninth through twelfth were a part of this escapade to Bagah-Sarahan, a picturesque place in Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh and were accompanied by two staff members – Sir Shailendra and Madam Priyanka.6

During this trip, the students got an opportunity to experience some awe-inspiring, daring and fun-filled activities such as – rock-climbing; rappelling; river-crossing and so on, putting in forth a perfect blend of stamina and determination. Challenging their own strength, the students walked a distance of nearly 16 kms in a single day and successfully conquered the 13,000 feet high Bashlew Pass.

The Chairman, Rajiv Sharma, was very exuberant and enthusiastic on return and stated that “the school would organize more such trips in the near future, which not only develop a harmonious relationship between man and nature but also leads to making children stronger physically as well as mentally. They learn to acclimatize to life in such hazardous terrains and develop a team-spirit and mutual co-operation”.

He further added that it is only after paying a visit to such places that we get to see the natural beauty and richness of our forest cover and realize the need to preserve our natural heritage, which ironically is depleting at a rapid pace, for the fulfillment of our own vested interests.
