International Sun Day is an awareness observance used to highlight the importance of the Sun as a vital source of clean and renewable energy. It focuses on promoting solar power adoption, climate action, and sustainable development by encouraging greater public understanding of solar energy’s role in reducing dependence on fossil fuels. On this day, governments, institutions, and organisations often conduct campaigns, events, and outreach activities to spread awareness about solar energy technologies such as rooftop solar systems and large-scale solar installations. While not a universally formalised United Nations international day, it is used in different contexts to support global and national efforts toward clean energy transition and environmental sustainability.
