Every year, 10 December holds global significance as it brings together multiple important observances. Foremost among them is Human Rights Day, which commemorates the historic adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in 1948—an event that laid the foundation for the protection of fundamental freedoms and dignity for all people across the world. The day is also celebrated as Nobel Prize Day, marking the annual presentation of the prestigious Nobel Prizes on the death anniversary of Alfred Nobel, whose legacy continues to inspire excellence in fields such as peace, literature, science and humanitarian work. Additionally, International Animal Rights Day is observed on the same date to emphasize the ethical treatment of animals and to raise awareness about their welfare, advocating that all living beings deserve compassion, protection and respect.
