National Broadcasting Day is observed every year on 23 July in India to commemorate the beginning of radio broadcasting in the country. On this day in 1927, the first organised radio broadcast was launched from the Bombay station of the Indian Broadcasting Company (IBC), marking a significant milestone in India’s communication history. The day highlights the vital role of broadcasting in connecting people, spreading awareness, promoting education, preserving culture and delivering information to citizens across the nation. Over the years, radio and other broadcasting platforms have played an important role in public service, entertainment and national development.
