Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, accompanied by Lady Governor Janaki Shukla, visited the picturesque Mystic Village at Khajjiar (Pukhri) today, where he experienced the village’s serene beauty and vibrant cultural heritage.
Impressed by the natural charm, clean environment, and hospitality of the locals, the Governor remarked that Pukhri rivals even the most popular tourist destinations in Himachal Pradesh. He commended the Chamba district administration and the tourism department for their proactive role in promoting rural tourism.
Emphasizing the importance of responsible tourism, Governor advocated for a development model rooted in cleanliness and environmental conservation. He noted the presence of well-maintained homestays and the village’s health-promoting climate as significant assets for tourists.
The Governor highlighted the potential of such villages to strengthen the rural economy and promote Himachal’s cultural heritage at national and international levels. He stressed the need to enhance road and digital connectivity to Mystic Village to encourage more footfall and pledged to raise the issue with the Central Government and the Union Ministry of Forests.
Additionally, Governor Shukla announced that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ICRT India Foundation and the Chamba district administration had been signed during the inaugural cultural evening of the International Minjar Fair 2025. This MoU aims to promote tourism in lesser-explored regions of Chamba.
The visit concluded with a vibrant cultural performance by local villagers in traditional attire. MLAs Neeraj Nayar, Dr. Hans Raj, and D.S. Thakur, along with Secretary to the Governor C.P. Verma, were also present during the occasion.
