The continuous degradation of our environment, including deforestation, pollution, replacing green space with concrete and climate change poses a significant threat to the health and well-being of our planet and its inhabitants.

Forest fires in Himachal Pradesh has become a major cause of concern with wild fires raging across the state and increasing in intensity every year causing wide spread destruction of wildlife, forests, permanent loss of massive biodiversity/natural resources and contributing towards air pollution and green house gas emissions. Further, most of the forest fires are caused due to human indulgences.

It is imperative that urgent action be taken to address these issues and Government should implement environmental norms required to mitigate effects of environmental degradation.

It is imperative for all stakeholders to prioritise the protection of our environment and work towards creating more sustainable and resilient future.

An awareness march is being organised by an NGO – Atulnniya Shiv Shagun Welfare Foundation on 30 June at 11 am to enhance concern about environmental degradation amongst citizens. A procession will begin the walk from City Point near DC office and terminate at Chaura Maidan.
