Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh advocated for engaging China in a broader regional dialogue to address mounting ecological risks and disaster management across the fragile Himalayan belt. He emphasized that rapid infrastructure expansion and heavy construction projects on both sides of the border are significantly altering the terrain and worsening environmental vulnerabilities across border states like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, the Northeastern region, and neighboring Nepal.

Highlighting China’s dominant geographical presence in the region, Singh noted that managing climate risks and natural disasters requires cooperative strategies rather than isolated national efforts. The Minister’s remarks coincide with high-level multilateral diplomacy taking place at the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, reinforcing the need for member nations to prioritize shared regional stability, joint emergency protocols, and sustainable development initiatives along sensitive ecological zones.
