Chief Guest Lieutenant General Balvinder Singh Sachar, Chief of Staff, ARTRAC was welcomed by the Director Principal Pronati Singh and CEO Kanwar Rattan Jeet, who then took the Guard of Honour as the students performed the March Past and Oath Ceremony. The March Past was led by the Sports Captain Kunal Chauhan and Vice Captain Ayushi Thakur, followed by the respective Houses — Vindhya House — Captain Shubham Grover and Vice Captain Rahul Verma; Shiwalik House — Abhilasha Sharma and Vice Captain Anirudh Mahajan; Himalaya House – Henna Basra and Vice Captain Gazal Gupta; and Nilgiri House – Captain Pooja Thakur and Vice Captain Ankita Singh.

cha3The event soon began with a PT Display by the students of classes IX and X, which was followed by the 100 meter races for boys and girls under various categories. Both boys and girls proved their mettle as they ran their best to reach the finish line to win medals for their respective Houses. Other events that were the highlight of the day were the 400 meters race, 200 meters race, 4 x 100 meters relay races, passing the ball for boys and rotating the ball for girls; dribble and run relay, sack race, three-legged race, lemon race and push up and sit-ups by boys.

Girls of classes IX and X gave a very calm and peaceful performance as they displayed few Yoga exercises, while boys’ energetic show of agility and dexterity was seen through their gymnastic skills. The highlight of the event was boys passing through the ring of fire in a very agile manner yet carefree of their surroundings.

cha1Races continued after the display and it was time for the Inter School 4 x 100 meter relays. Participant in boys relay were Chapslee, Bishop Cottons and Laureate Public Schools. The winners were as follows: 1st Shubham, Nehar, Rahul and Mohit from Bishop Cottons; 2nd Suraj, Kunal, Shaurya and Anatya from Chapslee School; and 3rd Jimmy, Satyam, Chandan and Nishant from Laureate Public School. It was then time for the Tug of War as the boys and girls lined up to represent their Houses to win medals. The House teachers namely, Amita Sharma, Santosh Thakur, Rupali Kapila and Harinder Kaur, were also seen cheering their teams and encouraging them to give in their best.

cha4Parents are always persuaded to be active participants, hence mothers lined up for the 40 meters walk race, while the fathers were given the task of using their strengths, thus a tug of war for them. The event was made more interesting as the fathers who won had to compete with the male teachers of the Chapslee School. The teachers finally won.

The day ended with the victory March Past and prize distribution by the chief guest. Lieutenant General Sachar awarded all the winners and congratulated them on such a spirited performance. He said, “A spectacular show was put up today by lovely children and we were indeed delighted to see the sports activities and the physical training displayed. The hard work, toil and sweat was very much evident in the achievements of the students for which I must compliment the Principal and her entire dedicated and motivated staff”. He further lauded the efforts of the parents who blended a healthy mix of academics and extra-curricular activities by encouraging their children to participate in the events.

Sports Captain Kunal Chauhan gave the vote of thanks with a special mention to their Sports Teachers Dinesh Panet and Shashi Verma, Gymnastics Teacher Ashish Paul and Yoga Teacher Shelly Kanta without whose guidance and hard work this day would not have been a grand success.
