Wang Yi Meets PM Modi, Highlights Border Peace

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, a senior member of the Communist Party Politburo, in Delhi. During the meeting, Wang Yi conveyed a message and extended an invitation from President Xi Jinping to PM Modi to attend the upcoming SCO Summit in Tianjin.

Wang Yi also shared a positive evaluation of recent bilateral engagements, including meetings between Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and the 24th Special Representatives’ Meeting co-chaired by NSA Ajit Doval.

PM Modi highlighted the critical importance of maintaining peace and tranquillity along the India-China border, reaffirming India’s commitment to a fair, reasonable, and mutually acceptable resolution of the boundary issue.

The Prime Minister welcomed the steady and constructive progress in bilateral relations since his last meeting with President Xi in Kazan, underscoring the principles of mutual respect, interest, and sensitivity. He also noted positive developments such as the resumption of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra.

Expressing gratitude for the SCO Summit invitation, PM Modi accepted and voiced his support for China’s presidency of the summit. He looked forward to engaging with President Xi in Tianjin, emphasizing that stable, predictable, and constructive ties between India and China are vital for fostering regional and global peace and prosperity.
