In a pioneering step towards institutionalising wellness at the workplace, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal today inaugurated ‘Mahila Aarogyam Kaksh’, a dedicated health and wellness space for women employees at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi.
The initiative, led by the Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice, transforms an unused garage space into a vibrant fitness and well-being facility featuring modern gym equipment and a private lactation room for nursing mothers.
Meghwal lauded the initiative as a strong move under the ‘Hum Fit Toh India Fit’ campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The well-being of women employees is essential for a healthy, inclusive and progressive India. This space is a meaningful step in that direction,” he stated.
Law Secretary Dr. Anju Rathi Rana emphasized the importance of prioritizing women’s health in the workplace, highlighting that the facility is a reminder that self-care is key to empowerment, not a luxury.
Designed to support physical fitness, mental well-being, and work-life balance, the Mahila Aarogyam Kaksh reflects the government’s commitment to making its offices more inclusive, humane, and employee-friendly.
By integrating the values of the Fit India Movement into daily government life, the Ministry hopes to set a precedent for similar wellness initiatives across departments — reimagining bureaucratic spaces as places that care for the people who serve the nation.
