Learning another language is not only learning different words for the same things, but learning another way to think about things, however, this knowledge comes with it is own price which may or may not suit the pocket of students or targeted audiences.
In a press conference organized at the Press Club, by the Shimla School of Foreign language, Shimla along with the German Language Teachers Association (InDaf) under their project “InDaf on Wheels”, a seminar on learning through modern web tools was held at the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, today.
The seminar focused on modern day teaching and learning through electronic gadgets. The seminar was presided over by Laxmi Sikhar Kelapu, vice president of the German Teachers Association of India and Seema Sharma, Principal of the School of Foreign Language Shimla. Sharma explained the benefits of learning through modern techniques in this era of technology.
The seminar was attended by a lot many students/professionals and teachers. The German Language is fast catching up with the youth as there are ample opportunities to study/work in Germany. The students can pursue higher studies in Germany and have a successful career.
There are different levels of courses that one can opt for, for polishing their skills, but the question again remains how much one is willing to shell out their pocket as for children it nearly 8.5 thousand and for adult it is 17 thousand for a basic course.
The School of Foreign Language, Shimla has been imparting high class German language courses to students and professionals for the past five years, many of whom have gone to Germany to pursue studies and work there and have attained great heights in their respective fields. Many students have also won competitions organized by the Goethe Institute, Max Mueller Bhavan, New Delhi.
The Institution has also trained German teachers to work for Kendriya Vidyalayas and also trained engineers and doctors to work with corporate sector and doctors who want to visit Germany for getting broader exposure and fellowships. “With the changing times, it has now become essential to have knowledge of a foreign language as the world is becoming smaller and aspirations higher,” claimed the organizers.
“We do provide concession to genuine students who cannot afford the fee,” shared Seema.
However like it’s said, “It takes a human three years to learn how to speak and a lifetime to know what to speak”, in similar way knowledge without implementation is taking one nowhere.
