Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, who is also the President of the State Red Cross Society, inaugurated the Voluntary Blood Donation Camp at historic Ridge Maidan, Shimla today on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day organized by Himachal Pradesh State Red Cross Hospital Welfare Branch. The Governor also interacted with the blood donors and appreciated their humanitarian work.
“This is a day to thank the voluntary blood donors, who are continuously making their valuable contribution in saving precious lives”, he said. He added that understanding the importance of blood donation, the State Red Cross through its various branches is playing a significant role to organize such camps besides creating awareness for blood donation in the general public.
He said that one could serve humanity through blood donation. He expressed happiness that a large number of army personnel also donated blood in the camp and said that the soldiers are protecting the border and donating blood also. They are the inspiration for us, especially the youth. He also appealed to the people to donate blood. Honorary Secretary State Red Cross Hospital Welfare Branch, Dr. Kimi Sood, Cluster Head Club Mahindra, Gagandeep and other prominent people were also present on the occasion.
