World Cancer Day : Awareness & Education at AIIA

The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, observed World Cancer Day 2026 with a range of awareness and academic activities organized by the Centre for Integrative Oncology (CIO), highlighting the institute’s commitment to cancer prevention, early detection, and integrative care through Ayurveda. The observance began on 3rd February with student-focused events, including a Slogan Competition and an Essay Writing Competition, aimed at sensitizing young minds to the importance of cancer awareness, prevention, and holistic healthcare. The main program on 4th February was attended by eminent academicians, clinicians, researchers, and students. The morning session focused on patient sensitization and awareness, with speeches at the hospital OPD educating patients and attendants on early warning signs, lifestyle risk factors, and Ayurveda’s role in supportive care. The inaugural ceremony featured dignitaries including Prof. (Dr.) Pradeepkumar Prajapati, Director AIIA; Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Badwe, Medical Superintendent AIIA Hospital; Prof. (Dr.) Manjusha Rajagopala, Dean FAUM, DU; Prof. (Dr.) Ramakant Yadav, Dean (PG); along with Dr. Pramod Yadav, Dr. Amrish Dedge, and Dr. Meeta Jhala, who emphasized the growing cancer burden and the importance of Ayurveda-based integrative oncology. The afternoon session included a comprehensive report on CIO’s 2025 activities presented by Dr. Amrish Dedge, the release of the CIO information brochure, and a guest lecture by Dr. Ashok Patel, Associate Professor at IIT Delhi, on molecular and genomics approaches in cancer research. The winners of the slogan and essay competitions were felicitated, and Prof. (Dr.) Pradeepkumar Prajapati, in his presidential address, highlighted Ayurveda’s role in lifestyle modification, immunity enhancement, and integrative patient care. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Pramod Yadav, expressing gratitude to all participants, faculty, and organizers for making the World Cancer Day observance a success.
