Auckland House School for Boys successfully hosted the Shimla Chapter of the Youths Movement to Unite Nations (YMUN) 2025 on July 19 and 20, bringing together over 250 student delegates from 12 prestigious schools across Himachal Pradesh. Celebrated as the largest Model United Nations (MUN) conference in the state, YMUN 2025 became a dynamic platform for vibrant discourse, leadership development, and collaborative problem-solving among the region’s brightest young minds.
Held under the theme “Where Ideas Meet Action,” the two-day event combined critical diplomacy, global awareness, and youth-led dialogue, going far beyond traditional debate. Delegates simulated the workings of the United Nations and national political bodies, tackling real-world issues and formulating creative policy solutions. Committees deliberated on both global and domestic concerns, allowing students to engage deeply with the complexities of governance, human rights, international security, and social justice.
The inaugural ceremony was marked by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Abhishek Verma (ADC, Shimla). Reuben John, Principal of Auckland House School for Boys, presided as the Guest of Honour, delivering a compelling keynote address that stressed the role of purpose-driven intellect in shaping future leaders.
YMUN 2025 is the visionary initiative of Hemanksh Gupta (Founder), Bhavyansh Verma (Secretary-General), and Savi Sektoo (Deputy Secretary-General) — three dynamic youth leaders who conceptualized this conference to empower students to think globally while addressing local and national realities. Their leadership transformed YMUN into a state-level movement for student engagement, uniting schools across Himachal and providing an authentic experience of diplomacy and governance.
Delegates took part in six rigorous committee sessions—Lok Sabha, UNHRC, UNSC, UNCSW, HP Vidhan Sabha, and AIPPM—alongside the International Press corps comprising reporters, photographers, and caricaturists. Issues ranging from human rights to geopolitical crises were debated with passion and insight.
The conference saw enthusiastic participation from 12 esteemed institutions across Himachal Pradesh, including Sacred Heart, CJM, St. Luke’s, MRA DAV, Pinegrove School, Bishop Cotton School, Cambridge International, ATLAS, Roots Country School, Chelsea, Auckland House School for Girls, and the host institution, Auckland House School for Boys.
