On the occasion of International Yoga Day 2025, athletes at the Indira Gandhi State Sports Complex, Shimla, participated in a special yoga practice session along with their coaches and in-charge staff. Athletes from various sports disciplines incorporated yoga into their morning training schedule to mark the global celebration.

Prominent coaches present during the session included Avni Kumar (Taekwondo), Ajay Kumar (Karate), Sanjay Kumar (Judo), Ravindra Prakash (Shooting), Sunny Papta (Badminton), Dinesh Kumar and Sangeet Chand (Boxing), Nitish Sharma (Fitness), and Abhay Lakhanpal (Table Tennis).

During the session, Satish Sharma, In-charge of the Sports Complex, addressed the athletes, emphasizing the holistic benefits of yoga. He stated that regular yoga practice, combined with the study of the Bhagavad Gita, can elevate athletes both mentally and physically. “Yoga instills the brilliance of the sun, the patience of the earth, the vastness of the sky, the calmness of the moon, and the depth of the ocean,” he said, urging players to make yoga and discipline a part of their daily lives.

He concluded by noting that yoga strengthens us from within while enhancing our presence externally — a powerful tool for every sportsperson.
