Young Foreign Delegates call on Governor

Representatives of Colombia, Senegal, Panama, Germany and Dominican Republic called on Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at Raj Bhavan today as part of Gen Next Democracy Network program emphasizing India’s rich democratic tradition organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations. On the occasion, the Governor said that India has believed in the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and considered the whole world as one family. He said that in the world we went with our culture and high traditions. We never believed in expansionism, he added. He said that governance was not possible in the world without democracy. He said that India has the oldest democratic country in the world, on which every Indian feels proud. But, if there was a best practice of democratic system in any other country of the world then it could be adopted, he said.

The Governor held detailed discussions with them on various topics related to women empowerment, technological development, democratic system, education in the country and answered the questions asked by the representatives. The Governor also honoured them by presenting Himachali Cap and Shawl. On the occasion, Kamaljit Singh, who is the Coordinating Officer thanked the Governor and detailed about all the activities being executed under Gen Next Democracy Network Programme of ICCR, as a part of the celebration of 75th  years of India’s Independence.  He said that the ICCR was organizing the visit of the 6th batch from 10th to 19th October, 2022 with 22 delegates from different countries. These young delegates were the members of entrepreneurs and rising leaders in their respective countries. Earlier, Rajesh Sharma, Secretary to Governor briefed about the historical background of Himachal Pradesh Raj Bhavan which is a heritage building.
