The Himachal Pradesh Government has carried out a major administrative reshuffle, transferring and assigning new responsibilities to 18 Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service (HPAS) officers with immediate effect in the public interest. The orders, issued by the Department of Personnel on July 19, 2026, include key appointments across departments, municipal bodies, educational institutions, and district administrations. Shri Bhupender Kumar, HPAS (2009), Managing Director of Himachal Pradesh General Industries Corporation Ltd., Shimla, has been given additional charge as Managing Director of Himachal Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation. Several senior officers, including Dr. (Maj. Retd.) Vishal Sharma, Dr. Madan Kumar, Shilpi Beakta, Dr. Amit Guleria, and Dr. (Maj. Retd.) Avaninder Kumar, have been assigned new roles in health, administration, election, and academic institutions. The reshuffle also includes appointments of new officers in municipal corporations, transport, youth services, power, and district-level posts. Among other changes, Ankush Sharma has been appointed Secretary of the H.P. Board of School Education, Dharamshala, Vishwa Mohan Dev Chauhan has been posted as Executive Director of H.R.T.C., Shimla, and Chirag Sharma has been appointed Sub Divisional Officer (Civil), Chamba. The government has also cancelled the earlier transfer orders of three HPAS officers, including Siddhartha Acharya, Kapil Tomar, and Padma Chhodon, issued earlier in July. The latest administrative exercise aims to streamline governance and ensure effective functioning of key government offices across Himachal Pradesh.
