Management and students of Guru Nanak Foundation Public School celebrated India’s 71st glorious Independence Day with great patriotic fervour, zeal and zest. The celebrations were a tribute to the national heroes whose tireless efforts gave us our much cherished freedom.

School Principal Poonam Sharma was the chief guest of the programme as she hoisted the national flag on the school building sharp at 8:00am. All the teachers and students saluted the flag and then sang the National Anthem. A shabad enchanted all by the teacher Santokh Kaur. After, Vande Matram was sung by the teachers in order to pay a tribute to the freedom fighters a speech was delivered by Ramneek Kaur of Class X .

To mark the occasion, an Inter House Patriotic song competition was conducted. Students danced to the song “Sabe Niara Gulstan Hamara Hai” to spread the message of unity in diversity and peace.

In a motivating and inspiring speech, the Principal addressed the students on the role of youth in free India and patriotism really meant. She said independence comprised of two words ‘inner’ and ‘dependence’, a means self realization. We have sharp brains to amass huge knowledge to make the best use of it and we should believe in hardwork.

She motivated the students to make India a place where people have confidence and don’t believe in miracles, they shoul do things themselves and not leave anything incomplete.
