Puducherry Hosts Yoga Mahotsav as IDY 2025 Countdown Begins

Union Minister of Ayush and Health & Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, inaugurated the 25-day countdown to International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 on May 27 at a grand event in Puducherry, drawing over 6,000 yoga enthusiasts to Gandhi Thidal on the scenic Beach Road. Organised by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), the Yoga Mahotsav showcased a live demonstration of the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) and highlighted Yoga’s growing impact on personal and public well-being. Emphasizing the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” the Minister praised Prime Minister Modi’s global efforts in promoting Yoga. Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy underlined Puducherry’s spiritual legacy and suitability as a Yoga hub. The event also spotlighted rising engagement through the Yoga Sangam portal and is part of a nationwide series leading up to the 11th IDY celebration, which includes 10 major initiatives like Yoga Sangam, Yoga Connect, Harit Yoga, and Yoga Maha Kumbh.
