In a heartfelt tribute to environmental stewards across Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister presented the Environment Leadership Awards to eight individuals and institutions for their exceptional contributions to environmental conservation. The award ceremony was held at Hotel Peterhof, Shimla, as part of the World Environment Day 2025 celebrations.
The awards recognized outstanding work in areas such as ecological preservation, waste management, sustainable innovation, and environmental education. First and second prize winners were each awarded a cash prize of ₹50,000, while third-place recipients received ₹25,000.

These awards highlight the growing environmental consciousness among students, educators, and communities in the state.
On this occasion, CM Sukhu also launched the “Plastic Challaning Mobile App”, enabling 13 government departments to issue on-the-spot plastic waste violation challans digitally. The initiative eliminates paperwork and strengthens the state’s efforts to enforce environmental regulations.
The Chief Minister lauded the dedication of students, teachers, institutions, and volunteers for promoting environmental stewardship. He emphasized that protecting nature is a shared duty and sustainable living should be a cornerstone of our daily lives.
