CM Presents Environment Leadership Awards

In a heartfelt tribute to environmental stewards across Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister  presented the Environment Leadership Awards to eight individuals and institutions for their exceptional contributions to environmental conservation. The award ceremony was held at Hotel Peterhof, Shimla, as part of the World Environment Day 2025 celebrations.

The awards recognized outstanding work in areas such as ecological preservation, waste management, sustainable innovation, and environmental education. First and second prize winners were each awarded a cash prize of ₹50,000, while third-place recipients received ₹25,000.

First Prize Winners:

  • Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV), Shimla – Academic Institution Category

  • Nature Park, Bakhli

  • JICA-Supported Project, Nachan

  • M/s Pidilite Industries Ltd., Baddi

  • Centre for Science Learning & Creativity (HIMCOSTE)

  • Block Development Office, Chopal

Second Prize Winners:

  • Himalayan Research Group, Shimla

  • PM Shri Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Chauntra, Mandi

  • M/s Luminous Power Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

Various competitions were also organized to engage students and promote environmental awareness:

Painting Competition:

  • Junior Category: Dhruv (GSSS Kanger, Una) secured first place

  • Senior Category: Roshni (GHS Navbahar, Shimla) claimed the top spot

Slogan Writing:

  • Junior Category: Harshita (GHS Kanah, Solan) – First place

  • Senior Category: Deeksha (GSSS Luddu, Chamba) – First place

Eco-Club Report:

  • Best Report: GSSS Balkrupi, Kangra

Photography Contest:

  • First Prize: Abhinav (Jindal Vidya Mandir, Sholtu, Kinnaur)

Declamation Competition:

  • First Prize: Ishita (GSSS Kotla, Solan)

Under the Centre for Science and Environment’s Green School Programme, the following recognitions were awarded:

  • Best Green District: Solan

  • Bhoomi Prabandhan Award: GHS Kanah, Solan

  • Parivartan Nirmata Vidyalaya: GSSS Baldeyan, Shimla

  • Urja Prabandhan Award: Doon Valley Public School

  • Apshisht Yodha Puruskar: GSSS Bhaleth, Hamirpur

  • Sarvshresht Navagantuk Puruskar: GSSS Sarog, Shimla

  • Jal Sanrakshan Puruskar: Shivalik Valley Public School, Solan

These awards highlight the growing environmental consciousness among students, educators, and communities in the state.

On this occasion, CM Sukhu also launched the “Plastic Challaning Mobile App”, enabling 13 government departments to issue on-the-spot plastic waste violation challans digitally. The initiative eliminates paperwork and strengthens the state’s efforts to enforce environmental regulations.

The Chief Minister lauded the dedication of students, teachers, institutions, and volunteers for promoting environmental stewardship. He emphasized that protecting nature is a shared duty and sustainable living should be a cornerstone of our daily lives.
