In a historic outreach to the remote Dodra-Kwar region of Shimla district, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla launched an anti-drug awareness drive, marking the first visit by a sitting Governor to this far-flung area. Accompanied by Lady Governor Janaki Shukla, he received a warm traditional welcome and engaged with residents despite heavy rains. Addressing a large gathering, the Governor voiced concern over the rising infiltration of synthetic drugs into rural communities, warning that traffickers are now targeting innocent youth. Stressing that the drug menace threatens the identity of Himachal Pradesh—known as Devbhoomi and Virbhoomi—he called for a united front to eliminate the scourge, urging especially women to lead the societal shift. Local MLA Mohan Lal Brakta was praised for his commitment to ongoing awareness campaigns in the constituency. The Governor also flagged off a school rally carrying anti-drug messages and held extensive discussions with villagers about their concerns. Officials including the Secretary to the Governor, ADC Shimla, SDM, Panchayat leaders, and Mahila Mandals were present at the event, reinforcing a strong collective message against drug abuse.
