CM Sukhu has directed a scientific investigation into a mysterious disease affecting apple orchards across Himachal Pradesh, after a delegation of apple growers raised concerns about the rapid spread of the issue and its damaging impact on crops.

The growers informed the Chief Minister that the disease is causing apple leaves to yellow and fall prematurely, resulting in sharp declines in yield and growing financial stress for orchardists.

Responding promptly, the Chief Minister contacted the Vice Chancellor of Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, and instructed him to immediately send expert teams to the affected regions. He directed that the disease be examined scientifically and that on-ground awareness be created among farmers regarding its prevention and control.

Highlighting the urgency, the Chief Minister stressed that the disease is spreading fast and causing economic losses to a sector that supports thousands of families in the state. He asked the University to submit a detailed report within seven days so that timely and effective measures can be implemented.

He assured the delegation that the state government is committed to protecting the interests of farmers and fruit growers and will provide every necessary support.

Principal Advisor (Media) to the Chief Minister, Naresh Chauhan, was also present during the meeting.
