Renuka Thakur Rewarded ₹1 Crore for Glorious Feat

CM Sukhu has announced a cash prize of ₹1 crore for international cricketer Renuka Thakur, who hails from the Rohru area of Shimla district. Renuka was a member of the World Champion Indian Women’s Cricket Team, which created history by winning its maiden Women’s World Cup 2025.

The Chief Minister personally spoke to Renuka Thakur over the phone and extended his congratulations to her and the entire Indian squad for their outstanding achievement. He said he had watched both the semi-final and final matches and was impressed by the exceptional performance and determination shown by the team throughout the tournament.

Expressing pride in Renuka’s remarkable accomplishment, the Chief Minister said that she had brought immense glory to Himachal Pradesh at the global level. He added that her dedication and success would serve as a great source of inspiration for young girls across the State to pursue their goals with the same spirit and commitment.

The Indian Women’s Cricket Team lifted its first-ever World Cup title by defeating South Africa in the final match held in Mumbai last evening.
