Constitution Day Observance by Adhivakta Parishad

The Adhivakta Parishad, High Court Unit, celebrated Constitution Day at the Himachal Pradesh High Court with solemnity and enthusiasm. The event saw the participation of a large number of advocates, judicial officers and members of the legal fraternity.

Hon’ble Justice Ajay Mohan Goel graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered the keynote address. Several Judges of the High Court, including Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, Justice Sandeep Sharma, Justice Satyan Vaidya, Justice B.C. Negi, Justice Rakesh Kainthla and Justice Ramesh Verma, were also in attendance, adding significance to the celebration.

Advocate General Anup Rattan and Deputy Solicitor General of India Balram Sharma were present and spoke about the importance of Constitution Day, stressing the legal community’s responsibility in upholding constitutional values of justice, equity and fairness.

In his address, Justice Goel explained the essence of Article 14—Right to Equality—describing it as the “soul” of the Constitution. He highlighted that Article 14 safeguards citizens from arbitrariness and guarantees equal treatment under the law. He also reflected on the evolution of Article 14 through landmark judgments and its role in shaping governance and strengthening the judiciary.

Amit Chandel, Sanyojak of the Adhivakta Parishad North Unit, presented an overview of the organisation’s community-driven initiatives, including legal awareness programmes, forest restoration work and various social outreach activities aimed at empowering communities and enhancing public understanding of legal rights and responsibilities.

The programme concluded with a collective pledge to uphold the ideals of the Constitution. Members of the legal fraternity reaffirmed their commitment to advancing justice, equality and constitutional awareness across society.
