On 26 January 1950, India officially adopted its Constitution, transforming the nation into a sovereign democratic republic. Every year, this day is celebrated with flag hoisting, parades, cultural programs, and honours for citizens who show exceptional bravery or service. It symbolizes India’s commitment to democracy, law, and unity. The same day is observed globally as International Customs Day, which highlights the important work of customs authorities in regulating trade, collecting revenue, and protecting borders. It acknowledges the role of customs in facilitating international trade while preventing illegal or unsafe goods from crossing borders.
