The Himachal Pradesh Government hosted a farewell ceremony in honour of Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Peterhoff, Shimla, today. Lady Governor Janaki Shukla was also present. CM Sukhu felicitated the Governor and the Lady Governor with traditional Himachali caps, shawls, and mementos as a mark of respect and gratitude.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Shukla described the moment as deeply emotional. “Himachal Pradesh is not only Devbhoomi but also a ‘Prem Bhoomi’. The warmth, simplicity, and sincerity of the people here have made my tenure truly special,” he said. He expressed heartfelt gratitude for the cooperation and support received from political parties, social and cultural organizations, and government officers during his tenure.
The Governor highlighted Himachal Pradesh’s steady progress, its rich cultural heritage, strong social harmony, and peaceful environment as a model for sustainable growth. He also emphasized the importance of addressing drug abuse, protecting the environment, and promoting tourism. “I leave with cherished memories and wish the people of Himachal Pradesh health, happiness, and prosperity,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Sukhu described Governor Shukla as a dignified and inspiring leader whose tenure upheld the Constitution’s spirit. He praised the Governor for making Lok Bhavan a responsive centre connected with public concerns and for inspiring students, youth, and social organizations through his regular interactions.
“His respect for the State’s culture, traditions, and spiritual values has been widely appreciated. As he takes on the role of Governor of Telangana, we are confident he will continue to serve with wisdom, experience, and compassion,” the Chief Minister said, conveying his best wishes for Governor Shukla’s health, happiness, and success in his new role.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta welcomed the Governor, Chief Minister, Lady Governor, and other dignitaries, recalling the Governor’s valuable contributions to the State over the past three years.
