In a major step to strengthen monitoring and coordination under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), the upgraded Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan 2.0 App was launched on April 24, 2026, in Chandigarh.

The launch was led by Gulab Chand Kataria and Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar during the inaugural session of Chintan Shivir.

Originally launched on August 15, 2020, by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan has now expanded nationwide, aiming to spread awareness on substance abuse and promote a drug-free society. So far, the campaign has reached over 26 crore people across the country, including youth, women, and more than 28,000 volunteers.

The newly upgraded NMBA 2.0 App is designed as a centralised digital platform for real-time monitoring, reporting, and coordination among stakeholders at national, state, and district levels. It also strengthens transparency and data-driven governance in the implementation of drug demand reduction programmes.

The app enables authorised users to upload and track activities under NMBA, access awareness material, manage volunteers, and organise pledge campaigns. It also provides helpline support, including de-addiction and mental health services.

Key new features include public access to e-pledge and awareness resources, real-time grant tracking for de-addiction institutions, a “nearest de-addiction centre” locator, and a feedback system for continuous improvement.

Officials said the upgraded platform reflects the government’s push to use digital tools for more effective implementation of anti-drug initiatives and stronger institutional coordination across India.
