Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday said the Himachal Pradesh Government is bringing major reforms in the education sector to make government schools the best in the country.

Interacting with students at the newly upgraded CBSE Government Senior Secondary School, Chhota Shimla, the Chief Minister said the state was committed to providing quality education in government institutions and that the results of ongoing reforms would soon be visible.

During the interactive session, students raised questions on education, career skills, sports and social issues. The Chief Minister shared experiences from his student life, recalling his participation in debates, hockey, cricket and handball, besides his interest in trekking.

Students also highlighted the shortage of teachers in the school. Responding to their concerns, the Chief Minister assured that all vacant posts would be filled before June 30 following the school’s conversion into a CBSE institution.

On the issue of drug abuse, he stressed the important role of youth in the anti-drug campaign and urged students to spread awareness and report drug traffickers to the police. He also encouraged senior students to participate in the Anti-Chitta Rally scheduled in Shimla on June 5.

Sharing his success mantra, the Chief Minister said discipline, dedication and hard work are essential to achieve success in life.
